During your first session, the focus will be on understanding your concerns, goals, and expectations. It’s an opportunity for you to share what’s on your mind in a safe, non-judgemental space. I will also explain the process, confidentiality policies, and how i can support you.
Most individual counselling sessions usually last between 45 - 50 minutes. The length of the sessions may vary depending on the session.
The number of sessions varies based on your unique needs and goals. While some issues may require a few sessions, others may involve ongoing therapy over several weeks or months. This will be discussed during your initial sessions. Usually, it takes 6 to 8 sessions. but this varies for each individual. Following a person-centered approach, I’ll will work collaboratively with you, respecting your pace and needs, to determine the best course of support during your initial sessions.Â
Yes, online counselling can be just as effective as in-person therapy. It provides the same professional support, with the added convenience of accessing sessions from the comfort of your home or preferred space.
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of my practice. Everything you share in counselling remains private, except in cases where there is a legal or ethical obligation to disclose (e.g., risk of harm to yourself or others).
There’s no specific preparation required, but it may help to reflect on what you’d like to discuss or achieve during the session. Remember, you don’t have to have all the answers — that’s what the process is for.
